All recorded deeds, mortgages, and leases which convey an interest in real estate are recorded in the Crawford County Recorder’s Office.
Deed grantor/grantee indexes (seller/purchaser) of all recorded deeds in Crawford County from 1820’s to present, may be found in the Recorder’s Office.
The indexes are indexed by the year the deed was recorded and then alphabetically, for both the grantor and the grantee. These hand written indexes are the original indexes. Once the township, range, and section number have been determined, the geographic index can be used.
The amounts of the conveyance paid can be determined by checking the revenue stamps on early deeds and the conveyance stamp on more recent deeds. My staff and I will promptly assist you in your research of historical and or genealogical facts, although we are not permitted to do a title search.
